Received this hybrid as a bonus plant, from its creator Cole Bonfield, in a recent order. (This one is clone #8) Cole ended up with close to fifty unique plants from this crossing of P. gigantea "purple flower" x emarginata "large red rosette", with this one being numbered as "8" in this lot. Some of the older leaves took a beating during shipping, but as leaf pulls, each has struck multiple plantlets. If interested, here is link to pics of some of the other siblings in this lot, and their flowers. cpnorth.proboards.com/thread/75/gigantea-purple-flower-emarginata-rosette?page=1&scrollTo=286 Will post another update or two once it settles in and flowers. Cole shipped out different clones to other members here, so feel free to post up some pics of your numbered clones too! dvg

This clone #8 leans toward its pollen donor parent, emarginata, with both its rosette and its purple veined flower. dvg

Scratchy, the fat orange cat dropped by, and took an interest in my subject, and he had me concerned for a moment, that he'd take a chomp out of the flower stalk, but Scratch just wanted to rub his chin on the flower. dvg

This clone #8 continues on with its winning ways. It sent up seven flower stalks in this last flowering spurt; the emarginata influence is expressed in this willingness to flower away. dvg

This is what became of the leaf pulls (clone #8) from the first post here - they were potted up into two pots, figuring that the delicate plantlets that were intertwined together or otherwise entangled, could be separated later to avoid damaging the tiny leaves and roots, at that time. Now the plants are larger, and still not divided. I have a sneaking suspicion that when i finally separate these plants, that i'll be left with even more unintentional leaf pulls. dvg

That’s a nice cross. It’s big like a gigantea but retains the stiff emarginate leaves. Good work Cole and dvg!

I was just chatting with someone about my clone from this batch last night as I got some picture updates of my collection, it didn't keep the really purple tones throughout it's leaves like I had hoped but it did stay around the edges which is really cool to see in certain lighting. This is #14, it's so interesting to compare all the different clones! What # is the really pink one? I need something with that much colour at some point!

Hi Kell27, thanks for sharing a pic of your clone #14 here. Once you get your clone back, it should color up again under some good lighting. The clone with the pink colored leaves is clone #8. (I've edited my previous posts in this thread to make it easier to identify the various clones) I only have two clones from this crossing, #8 and #16. I'll post some more pics from the clone #16 rosette's leaves, once it settles in here. These clones are very prolific with their nonstop flowering. Cheers, Doug dvg

Here are a few update shots from today of my two clones from this crossing by Bonfield, #8 and #16. From above, #8 on top, #16 below. These leaf pulls from my #8 mother plant are now flowering. A #8 flower. A closer look at the rosette of clone #16. And lastly, an older #16 flower in full sunlight. dvg

This is clone #6. I love the purple color! Grown on window sill until weather got very cold and then moved under LED light.
