Don't turn your back on them - they grow up way too fast. dvg

An update on the developing leaf stolon post from October 8 and onward - here it is today, made visible again after some tamping down of surrounding mosses. Might have to rethink this species of moss, maybe in favor of a slower growing variety. This stuff is pretty much a haystack gone haywire, but the new leaf stolons keep rising above it and if it flowers profusely in this mix, all will be forgotten and forgiven. dvg

Here’s quelchii wei tepui. To the right of the leaves you can see where the root has surfaced and shot up a stolon. Has a few more coming up since taking this photo.

This is a mighty fine Utric species. How long have you been growing this clone, Jbron? Looking forward to seeing some flowers from this one. dvg

I can’t wait to see it bloom either! It hasn’t been long, just since this past November. I rolled the dice on splitting the portion I got and it paid off, they’re both growing at a steady rate. I’ve tried utrics before unsuccessfully but I didn’t have a set up I was happy with until this past year.

I went from attempting easier hybrids on a windowsill, which failed. To setting up a 4x8 grow tent in the basement which has lights going 12 hours on and off, with a constant RH of 80%. Temps overnight hovered around 15-18C and during the day 20-23C.
I had a tank projects in the works but would end up hitting snags which made them not worthy, either weren’t going to fit in the specific room I wanted (should’ve measured entrance door and also spare room door🤪) or would require upkeep that would lead to headaches in the long run, so I scrapped them. So I noticed the grow tents were on sale at a local shop so I ended up going that route and quite happy.

This little guy has had some pretty rough moments as I've moved it around trying to find it a home where it could be most happy. Since moving it into a net pot in the same dome I have my Helis, as well as some other Utrics, it has settled in, and has now just started flowering for the first time! Not fully open yet, and it's in a tricky place to get a decent angle on it, but the colour is everything its cracked up to be.
