I finally got my stylus mailed to me after forgetting to pack it, after seeing some beautiful watercolours someone painted a couple days ago I decided to use CP's to create some drawings since I couldn't find anything I wanted to draw recently. I figured you'd all enjoy it too! The P. cyclosecta was my first try after a few years, it came out alright but I learned a lot from it. The cephalotus I drew over a few hours this morning, I've struggled in the past with doing any sort of raised perisdome or lips because I've always had trouble with highlighting that's almost white. Somehow I figured it out today & at the same time maybe developed a style new to me? Either way I like it, someone suggested making some stickers in the future once I build up a decent collection of these drawings. This evening I started the N. Maxima to really push myself with perisdomes. After about 6 hours I think I have it looking nice and I've spent at least an hour of that just blotting out the patterns (Why did I pick something so shiny AND spotty?!) I'm hoping to create a banner for my collection's facebook page with all the species I grow currently, hopefully with photo references of my own plants although I may branch out into other types for practice as I go. I used to love drawing & lost interest suddenly, it's great that I've gotten that interest back to keep me somewhat still in this hobby while I wait for my plants! Enjoy!

Incredible work! This is the kind of imagery I would love to showcase on a shirt to start conversations with other anonymous CP'ers!

Incredible work! This is the kind of imagery I would love to showcase on a shirt to start conversations with other anonymous CP'ers! That's the style I'm trying to go for, not necessarily just realistic but not illustrated either. Just enough detail to make it pop & show the most important features.

It's not finished yet, but this is coming together after 24 layers! That perisdome was tough but I think I'll be seeing spots and stripes for days after this one! The lid has only about an hour of work put into it so far. The details look a little blocky up close but farther away they come together to add some nice detail!

I was surprised that find that the ceph drawing was not an actual plant! Thanks for sharing your amazing drawings kell27, keep up the great work! Thanks! This nepenthes is working out pretty good, It doesn't have as much linework as the cephalotus (The original sketch it actually hidden underneath, it kind of pops through with the shine as it's now white) but it's still matching the style. I haven't done much actual painting but I seem to be following the oil painting technique I think where I'm blotting down colour so that when it's farther away it creates a detailed image. Up close still looks pretty neat, I'm nearing done on this one now. I changed the lid since it just wasn't fitting right.

Wow, these are amazing kell27! I totally second the sticker idea! And Cole's t-shirt idea. Anything with cp's really, there's almost nothing out there. Anyways, excellent job, I can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Very cool Kell27! Those improvements in your work came quickly for you. Looking forward to seeing the advancement in your works as you learn to refine new techniques. Your Ceph reminded of some artwork by Nicole Rebbert. www.utricularien.de/start.php?go=sonstiges_zeichnungendvg

I've had a few people ask about stickers so far, I tried it out with this one. It came out pretty neat so I'm looking into the best places to do it, if I manage to make a few more. The N. Maxima turned out great although it was very very hard to do. It took probably 10-15 hours to do, I stopped tracking after about 8. Now to decide my next drawing, something without all the intricate patterns! I'm thinking of trying a capensis if I can figure out how to draw clear droplets. I think I've noticed while looking into sticker/print ideas is my resolution needs to be way higher to do that kind of stuff. These are around 300 DPI which is the absolute minimum that any sites will allow before it starts to look blurry. I'll start using 800-1000 dpi instead since I have a computer that can handle it now. EDIT: If anyone actually wants stickers of any of the 3 I've made, let me know. I found a site to do it through but shipping to get them to me is $9 just for samples so I'd rather I get a bunch at once if there's interest. They can be done in 4 sizes, 2x2 - 3x3- 4x4 & 6x6 in either white backing or transparent. I'll have to make a small edit to the nepenthes so there isn't a cutout along with a little edge cleanup for the white type. They also let me do shirts and stuff, but I haven't set anything like that up so far.

I started on a drosera capensis but all the little dewy spines started to burn me out so I decided to start this about an hour ago. I really like how it looks! I'm not sure how far I want to go with it but this one was really fun to draw.

Oh yes! I haven't figured out how to draw clear stuff yet which is part of why trying to draw a D. capensis was so annoying. I'll figure something out
