Here is a close-up of its spoon, if you ever have the chance to taste the nectar of this variety, it is incredibly sweet!

Thanks! Yes, it's pretty tasty, and a lot of creatures die trying to get to it, lol. Here is some more of the plant, I also like the scorpion-stinger appearance of its lids! i.ibb.co/3sVpCyX/DSCF1117.jpg

bonfield , What a gorgeous looking heliamphora you got there, thanks for sharing this! From your pictures, it looks like this plant grows taller than other Helis?

Thanks Ellsie!
Along with tatei, it is one of the taller Helis, capable of growing pitchers 30-40cm!

Love how the rich red diffuses upwards from the bright green below! I guess the red colour attracts insects...and curves inwards into the pitcher. All roads lead to sweet nectar! :-)

bonfield, With the nectar being so sweet and the nectar spoon being so high and prominent, have you noticed any 'black soot' forming? I think it's a type of fungus/mold that feeds on sugars.

This pic reminds me of something from a 60's sci-fi horror flick, inevitably about an extraterrestrial alien life form that has arrived on Earth with some sinister plans in store for the planet's native life forms. dvg
