Found a link to this site on another CP forum, and because some members here grow different varieties of Sphagnum moss and some members are also looking to expand their collections to grow more labeled species of that moss, i thought i'd pass this along here. www.coxnature.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=42&product_id=1Haven't checked to see if they ship to Canada, but at least we now know of a source for identified Sphagnum species, if we want to pursue it further. Apparently, the variety pack consists of at least one head of each included species, and i read that generally a few small heads of each species are sent out... ...but you know Sphagnum, give it a place it likes and it can take over the place. dvg

I was warned on another forum to be careful with the "mixes" offered on the website, as they might all arrive as a Sphagnum salad in an unlabelled clump. But when I clicked on the "mix" photo, there was an underlying photo, that revealed the individual coded mosses inside separate small acrylic cubed boxes. That would seem more likely what would be sent out. The individual species, can be purchssed separately, as well. www.coxnature.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=1dvg

Hello dvg, I buy my species from this website, I can guarantee you that if you buy multiple species, they are individually packaged in cells like the photo you posted.
He is an excellent source, and very good person to deal with. Also extremely knowledgeable on the subject.

Oh cool! I'm tempted to get the mix. I like the idea of finding one that does the best in my conditions.

I hear you Will!
It's like you read my mind.
When i was reading through the descriptions of some of the species listed there, I was amazed at what I was reading, and how some Sphagnum preferred growing on dry surfaces and others that did best growing in full sun.
Some compact species were recommended for growing Drosera species, while one I read about was not recommended for small slow growing plants, because the moss would smother them.
With, that many Sphagnum varieties to experiment with, chances are that some of them would perform as well or better than our current live mosses do, in a variety of differing grow conditions, indoors and out.
